Barry Dock Blankers v Team Blank

Well what can i say? I had an absolutely brilliant day and hopefully all fellow “blankers” had as much fun as me???

I’ll start at the beginning.....7.30am met up with Cornish Girl and Mr.....drove down to the mark, parked the cars in the “abundant” amount of empty spaces and took a gentle walk across the field, where that bleddy style managed to “Trap” me again...I hate styles and 5 bar gates!!!

The wind was OK hardly a breeze, unlike Pendennis which was blowing a hoolie......There was a bit of fine misty rain, but thats OK, fish live in water!! So they won’t be put off!!Mr and Mrs CG were setting up their gear whilst I attempted to blow up balloons, to mark the opening in the hedgerow so others could find us and we could “all” fish together! Eventually I had inflated about 8 balloons, then I swiftly secured them to the ideally placed bush at the opening of the hedgerow......doh Lynnie having a dumb moment.....the bush was a bleddy hawthorn.......prickly bushes and cheap spar balloons don’t really mix, but hey ho.....

Sorry, I digress, back to the fishing report.......Crutchie, CG and Mr have all baited up I believe we all had rag and 1 or 2 hook pats and 3/4oz bombs. Didn’t have to wait long and Mr was in with his first.... nice ballan ......Then crutchie hooks a nice ballan........then not long after CG is in on the ballan also.......Certificates issued all round

CG then went float fishing, looking for her illusive garfish......unfortunately, even with crutchie nd Mr CG shouting pull (was like a clay pigeon shoot!) at the right time so she didn’t tangle her line round the float on casting, she never found those gars. Keep trying my bird, they are out there somewhere!

Well a few more wrasse later, team blank were letting the side down, we had all caught!! We need a blanker...... ooh up pops Brolly...BDB’s representative.........he tackled up and casts out.....a short while later, and he only goes and lets the side down by catching his PB ballan (1lb 15oz), and then to top it all he goes and catches his first ever corkwing! Oh deary me, Team blank really have let the side down..... 4 “blankers” and NO BLANKING!!

We need more blankers down here to keep the name “team blank” alive........ Hey up pops Tommo, Silverfish and his clan......wicked, they will save the day and surely one of them will save the day by blanking at this, usually, so called “c*ap” venue!! Well it certainly was looking that way lol until tommo got fed up and decided to become a tosser (a tisnsel tosser) out goes his tinsels, in comes 4 pollock....Oh pollocks!! Only silverfish can save the day now...come on silver take your hooks off, we need a blanker. Too late he was out with his tinsels....and yeah, you guessed it 4 more Pollock.....Crutchie has now lost the will to live.... BdB’s V Team blank, and everyone has caught, even the kids have had, Pollock, green eel, starfish, crab. And then to top it all, crutchies slosh rachet goes...oh err this feels good....I only go and land my definite 26th species by hooking a lovely Couche's Bream, yes a COUCHE'SBREAM! The bream Queen is back!! Well everyone got excited and we all baited up with small hooks and rag, looking for more couche's, but alas, crutchie was definitely the ONLY Bream Queen there today, and managed a total of 4 or 5 Couche's Bream! (Sorry, I actually lost count lol)

Well what can i say, crutchie is on a roll
Met up with cornish girl and "Mr" to try and target a species i've never managed before....... Mr and mrs CG came along and pointed me in the right direction......and hey presto target species MULLET caught by crutchie.....1st one i didn't have a clue what i was doing and unfortunately didn't manage to land it(prob about one and a half pounds), but second one i knew how, and when to strike..and how to play the fishie and hey presto landed the little blighter
OK he wasn't the biggest but target species caught and landed (and safely returned!)
THANK YOU SOO MUCH mr and mrs CG, a great, if not cold and wet aftenoon had by all. I really appreciate you sharing your knowledge with me...I think I am now hooked on mullet fishing lol

FISHING FROM BEER

Well there was a window in the weather and we managed to get a crew together so the Bream Trip from Beer was on.
I woke before darkness lifted its veil this morning and ventured from the deepest darkest depths of Cornwall to join the lads up in Devon. Me and Derek were picked up from Saltash by Gary after our silly o'clock dive from Camborne and we made our way to Beer. Stu (the-fox) and Scott (Chesney AKA Sick note!) were already there when we got there and Scott was not feeling well at all. After going for a constitutional he was fit enough for the day out with Cyril on Blue Lady, where the plan was to search out some Black Bream.
We made our way to the first mark and it was clear that the fishing was going to be a bit slow...
After a short move we all soon found the Pout, which were disguising themselves by replicating bite from other fish. Stu got smashed by a bite not too dissimilar to that of a Bass on a large squid bait, only to find a small pout had taken it...
Then I had that special take that could only be one thing...

With that followed much un-eventfulness until another move over the brittle star beds put us back into the bream action.
Up to this point Scott(sick note) had successfully managed to avoid catching anything, until the faithful puppy dogs put in an appearance.
We all managed a few bream, although fishing was fairly slow and sporadic - one minute they were there, the next gone.

All in all we landed about a 18 blacks, 3 or 4 mackie, several dogs, 1 female cuckoo, 1 pollock, 1 scad and umpteen pouting.

Weather was looking good, tad windy!, but i had finished all my household chores so i thought i would nip out for a couple of hours and see if i could catch my tea!

Packed my 6 quid telescopic rod and my 12 remaining lugs and plodded off...... 2nd cast 3rd worm! zrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr bait runner shoots off, rod bent in double, fishermen all around me stood up with that - "jammy git" - expression ..........fishie on! lol, oh errrr big fishie on!! oh errrr I get that sneakie feeling no one is gonna help me land this one!
go crutchie go.........ignor them, they are jealous! yepeeeeeeee crutchie has her tea (4lb on the nose) - even kernowboy82, after recovering from his near miss this morning walked over to take a look -

pleased as punch, and i'm off on the hunt for black bream tomorrow- fingers crossed!!
